The Bad Girls of the Bible is an adult ministry of Ellaville Baptist Church. This drama team travels around the state of Georgia performing and raising money and awareness for The Golden Rule at Mauk, Georgia. The Golden Rule www.golden-rule.org is a Christian based drug and alcohol treatment center for women. This center depends totally on donations for its existence.
The Bad Girls of the Bible ministry began in 2004 when a small Bible study group read the book The Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs. This group planned a one-time ladies night out program in which they envisioned different women from the church dressed up and performing as Eve, Potiphar’s Wife, Lot’s Wife, Sapphira, the Woman at the Well, Delilah, Jezebel, Michal, Rahab the Harlot, and the Sinful Woman. After a script was written and practices were held, the Bad Girls of the Bible was presented. It was a big hit! Later they performed this program for The Golden Rule, and it was another huge success.
After that, churches began calling and the rest, as they say, is history. This group has raised thousands of dollars for The Golden Rule. The program lasts 45 minutes and is a funny but very moving and inspirational way to learn from these Bible women of the past.
